FATİH Project

Can Every Student Have Equal Opportunities in Education in Turkey?

My reflection about "Editor-Invited Article Teacher Educator Technology Competencies" is ;

In Turkey, one of the significant investments in education is called FATİH project. It provides every student equality in education and it increases usage of technology in education.

Tablets and smart boards are given to most schools.

However, smart boards aren't given to some schools, and tablets aren't given to some students.

The disadvantage of FATİH project

• The budget is not enough to meet all of this.

• The system is not safe completely, some tablets are hacked so someone can steal students' or teachers' information.

• Some teachers are not taught how to use smart boards.

• Not gathering enough information and wrongly calculated. It would last 3 years after the last stage but it did not last 3 years. (Looking at usability, feasibility, etc.)

• Whether the project is successful or not is unknown. No one gives information to people and there is no control over this system.  

• Some teachers are not educated on how to use technological devices. (Tablets, smart boards, etc.)

• Teachers are not motivated to adopt the FATİH project.

• Infrastructure is not enough to support this project.

• The whole system is not connected to each other.

• People who live in the countrysides can't take advantage of this. Only people who live in cities can take advantage of this project.

The advantage of FATİH project

• It tries to make a strong relationship between education and technology.    

• It tries every student to access education equally.

• It tries to make the learning process easier with what it provides, for example, showing videos, using websites including simulations about lesson's topics from smart boards.

• It provides students to be motivated to learn some technological devices such as tablets.

• The next generations adopt technology more. Because of this, the achievements of all area increase. 

• Giving free material to both teachers and students.

The limitation on FATİH project

• Financial support is not enough to be continued.

• Infrastructure is not enough to support it in every place.

• Its security should be developed.

The problems of FATİH project

• The whole system is not connected to each other.

• Tablets and smart boards can be hacked.

In conclusion, I can say that this project can be very successful only if its disadvantages, limitations, and problems are eliminated or decreased.

EBA

It is an educational platform.

It offers online course materials that teachers and students need within the scope of FATİH project.

The disadvantage of EBA  

• The system is not safe completely, some tablets are hacked so someone can steal students' or teachers' information. 

• The system doesn't have enough quality and the system can down.

• Its Website is a little bit confusing.

• The usability of EBA is low. People ask how to use it to google.

• Disabled children can't use the website.

The advantage of EBA  

• It provides a lot of material to both teachers and students.

• It provides students to study themselves with some modules.

• It tries to make the learning process easier with what it provides, for example, 3d simulations.

• Both teachers and students can access free books' pdf. 

• The website is available to be opened on every technological device.

The limitation on EBA  

• Financial support is not enough to be continued.

• Infrastructure is not enough to support it in every place.

• Its security should be developed.

• The usability level is low. 

The problems of EBA

• The whole system does not directly integrate into lessons, which means it is optional to use it for teachers.

• The system can be hacked and some private information can be stolen.

In conclusion, I think that using such a platform can fetch some advantages but also disadvantages. We should evaluate very well to use it.
